Our company is seeking a skilled Desktop Support Technician to provide technical support to our employees on desktop computers, laptops, and other peripherals. The Desktop Support Technician will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting hardware and software issues for all our employees, both onsite and remotely. The successful candidate will have excellent technical knowledge, strong communication skills, and a customer-focused approach.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to end-users via phone, email, and in-person for desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and other peripherals.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues, including diagnosing, repairing, and replacing faulty equipment and components.
  • Install and configure software applications and updates, as well as operating systems, and ensure all software is up-to-date and compatible.
  • Manage and maintain user accounts, including setting up new users, modifying existing accounts, and resetting passwords.
  • Provide basic network support, including troubleshooting connectivity issues and setting up VPN connections.
  • Monitor and maintain computer systems, including identifying and resolving security risks and ensuring system performance.
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers to resolve technical issues and order necessary equipment and software.
  • Document technical processes, procedures, and solutions for future reference and knowledge sharing.
  • Train end-users on basic computer usage and best practices for system security and data management.
  • Assist with the setup and maintenance of audio-visual equipment for presentations and events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the IT Manager.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment of up to 50lbs if needed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven experience as a Desktop Support Technician or similar role, with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems, as well as common office applications, such as Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Understanding of Microsoft 365, Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS, and other cloud and infrastructure providers
  • Familiarity with computer hardware, including desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals.
  • Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and other network management tools.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve common network issues, such as connectivity and configuration issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with ITIL, incident management, and change management processes is a plus.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), or ITIL Foundation are preferred but not required.
